I found this pendant metal detecting yesterday, and it is marked .585 gold and .925 silver. it is the same size as a 50cent piece, marked made in the USA, the makers mark looks to be a Kia with a capital A. The kia leads me to believe it is Native American made, and it resembles the sun. With the round silver disk and gold studs as rays around the rim. Thanks for any Help...HH.. :help:

nice, unusual looking find.

Yes it is very unusal, and more so because I seem to remember reading about a NA silversmith who was the only one to mark his work (made in the USA) I had seen this while researching a silver and Turquoise ring I found a week or two before. I have had my detector since mid-May of this year, and I seem to be better at finding stuff out in the field than on the internet.... HH everyone!

As soon as I saw the symbol it made me think of the Zia indians, four points of life. A New Mexico tribe. Hope it helps you.

Seeing how its marked (Made in the USA) I don't think its Native American. ??? No way would any Native American put (Made in the USA) on their work. Well no Native American I know and I know quite a few. With all the Metal Stamps and the (Made in the USA) i'd say its an American piece of Jewelry. Maybe made to look like a Native design but.... :icon_scratch: I don't think it was even that I just think it happens to look like one and is something totally different. This has all the markings a modern piece of Jewelry should have by law. The fineness mark, the Makers mark and what I think is the Date letter. I'd start off by looking up that Makers Mark and try and match it with modern jewelers... Now that I think of it the makers mark kinda looks Native or Mexican. :icon_scratch: Anyway research the Makers mark... :icon_thumleft:

Keep @ it and HH !! ;D :D

I thought of the Zia symbol right away also, which as sagittarius98 pointed out above, is on the New Mexico flag. It's also on every thing else since it's used as a state symbol there. Kinda like Texas has the Star. As sagittarius said, maybe made in New Mexico
