Gold and silver chains this weekend

Hello!

I did a little experiment this weekend. Went to 3 schoolyards and covered the woodchipped play areas only. One was a lower middle class area, one a middle class area, and an upper middle class area. Surprise, it did make a difference in the finds too.

It was kind of slim pickins on total finds but I cleaned up on the jewelry again. I totalled 4 - 1/2 hours hunting, only $6.20 total clad, 80 coins.

At the rich school, I hunted an hour as there was only one 50 X 75 foot play area, covered it all. Pulled out a nice 14kt thin gold chain (hallmarked 14K Malta) , a hallmarked "Mexico 925" thick silver ring, and two sterling charms with gemstones in them.

I also dug a really pretty charm of some sort. It's not hallmarked but it's got a Cherry design in gemstones or crystals, super bright!

Some trinkets turned up too including a Eiffle Tower pin and an American flag pin.

Here's the photos of the finds at that school.

Happy hunting!

hi super b-doo that one awsome haul and congrats.i did a quick add up of the numbers and percentages.first your finding a coin or a piece of jewelly every 3 .45 minutes and if you include all the trash say 3 to1 or it could be higher that takes your finds to less than a minute.pinpoint the target and dig it and fill the hole and put in your huge wheel-barrow.these figures are based on the imfo from your post. plus the weather factor, travel time, stop time has not been included in the percentages.about 25-26 c in michigan all weekend working at your pace you would be one tried person.nice weather but that sun would slow me down after a few hours a this pace.these post should be in best finds and even treasure mags and the news paper.YOUR THE SUPERMAN OF M.DING WOODCHIP PARKS.NOW HERE IS THE PERCENTAGE WITH ALL THE FACTORS FROM ABOVE. ONE ITEM DUG EVERY 23.5555 SECONDS. GOT TO BE A WORLD RECORD ;D ;D ;D.

TINPAN

Hiya Tinpan
great to see you again!!

I did not count drive time. This was actually swinging time. On Sunday, I had an errand to run and planned my route and stops on the way. I hunted 1-1/2 hours early Satuday morning, and 3 hours Sunday.

A lot of the finds in the chips are right on top (or less than 1 inch down) and take like 5 seconds to bend over and pick up so that helps and I sent you a PM explaining my technics that are very efficient timewise which is a must for me most of the time because usually, I have a very limited time to actually hunt.

Also, with the machine I use and settings and the fact that 95% of the things in the chips are 3 inches or less, I can move faster than I would if I were lets say, coinshooting for older/deeper signals.

I will have my wife come sometime and log some data for me and then I could report it. That could be interesting for sure.

I do always wonder how many items we actually pass over and miss... does anyone else think of that?

At this point, I am not changing a thing until my luck changes. I have been really fortunate lately to just be in the right place at the right time. Several of my best gold finds have actually been laying right on top and anyone with a good eye could have found them.

Thanks again my friend!!
Good luck to you!!

How deep was the BUFFALO?

Hi Bob

It was just under the surface of the woodchips, maybe 1/2 inch max.
Bet it was lost in the last week?

Found it right next to the slide ladder.

Lot's of nice finds. You are the man! You are only solidifing your reputation as the king of Jewelry. I like your experiment too. That is something I would do.

Poor Tinpan - getting grief for his fuzzy pics. :D perfectly clear to me. ;)

Thanks for being so nice Bob!!
King of jewelry, well, maybe in the running
for the land roamers, but those water guys like Max
and Sandman got us all beat in that catagory.

I sure have been fortunate of late and that makes me happy,
but I know the MD'ing gods will catch up with me soon...lol.

Thanks again my friend, best of luck to you!

Thanks Jeremy!

You killed em way deader than me,
I was really impressed with all your awesome coins!!!
... but I'll take what I can get,
and it was easy diggin, or I should say flippin
as one quick flip into the chips usually gets the prize.
Thanks for the encouraging comment, it helps!

I have had very little luck in the chips & sand at playgrounds, maybe a dozen coins at best. There are times I'll go to a park & there are no kids in the sand & I wont even bother looking, I'll hit the grass around the sand then move on. One of the problems I have is around the play equipment & the edges of the sand, usualy there are wood 4x4's with nails & screws in em, leaves a very small alley of sand that I can look through. Hadnt thought of it but should I turn my sensetivity way down when goin into the chips & sand? There is a large park 2 blocks from my tar paper shack, very large sand playground & a sandy volleyball area, I'll go by in the afternoon & see 20-30 kids & adults in there almost daily. Should be a goldmine yet Ive only found a quarter & a handful of pennies in a dozen tries. Either someone is hunting the area hard or Im doing something wrong, or both! Ive only seen a someone detecting at this park 3 times in a year & I drive by it on a daily basis, I need technical help Booby! What machine do you use? I use a QXT & have hunted these areas with a Prism3 also. Should I turn down my sens? I also shut my Quantum down & rebalance it in the sand before hunting. Im stumped! I know a smaller coil would help around the metal pipe bases of the play equipment, I have the stock 9 1/2 inch coil on my QXT.

Awesome finds BDoo, congrats on the gold and silver! HH, mike
