Hunted this field for about 1 hr and 15 mins today, about all I could stand in the hot sun at 93F, second hunt here. Didn’t find much but did find a keeper. The farmer stopped by and told me there was a WWII Flak site (German air defense, guns) around the area but he was sure it wasn’t on his land and thinks it was closer to the town in the background.
Here are a few relics from the past few hunts. Upper left a bullet from a ball field I hunted yesterday, junk ring, a musket ball that I found at the cannon ball site Sunday, an 1875 pfennig coin found on the field I hunted today but found Monday and a 1987 Nickel found at the ball field.
After the hot ball field I sought a shady area to detect for a cool down so I detected between a horse shoe court and found this gold ring with 11 diamonds, diamonds look fake and the ring is not stamped or hallmarked but looks like gold and does have some weight to it.
The only keeper today was this bronze ring. It is 26 mm in diameter and has a nice ornate design on both sides. I have found several of these but none with a design on them, they have been used throughout history as money in Celtic times but, doubt this one could be that old, have seen them used with horse/ox harnesses and Tack and even worn on clothing in post medieval times. An interesting find but doubt I’ll ever know what its real purpose was. HH, Mike
