Going out today!

So we're going out tomorrow with our new "teacher" hopefully ill have some good pics and something to show for it. And maybe even a lot of new knowledge I hope :)

So we went out on the feather river, we spend about 2 hours driving there. Once we got to our parking spot, we hiked down to the river about another 2hours. We finally stopped and our "teacher" showed us how to Pan and what to look for. We did that for about 30min then we started walking again! We walk probably 2.5 hours because he wanted to show us some old run down mining settlements (which was pretty cool) we hung out there and ate lunch. By then it was and 4pm and starting to get dark. So we had to hike allllll the way back up and this way took much longer because it was all uphill. But all in all me and my buddy found 3flakes in the short amount of time we actually played in the water :)

That's awesome! So you had a chance to refine your panning and where gold likes to sit in your pan right?! Wish I could see your pics. Sounds like a good day all in all.

Yeah I was panning right I just wasn't digging in the right areas. Previously I was just digging deep in gravel areas behind rocks. He showed us what real hard pack was and to pry the hard pack up and take the dirt and plant life out of the holes and wash it in the pan :) here ill try again with the pics :)))

I guess they won't work. Ill put them on my computer and try :/

Knowing that your panning technique is good, is a huge confidence builder. Glad you found some if that yellow metal in your pan :-)

I'm very excited I can finally say I found something. Now I'm excited to bring my new knowledge to my local creek and streams and see if I'm able to start getting color on a regular basis without feeling defeated time after time :)

There we go. I think I figured out the pictures, I put a new album up called feather river...it actually worked that way :D

Oh it was so nice! It was like 70degrees compared to the heat in my town at like 90 plus we were in a shaded canyon and a light breeze. It was beautiful

Btw here's what bird shot looks like in a pan... If your deep enough to find lead, you should be close to gold, if its there.

Is that what this perfectly round little white ball is in my pan?

Without seeing it? But probably yes, these are perfect rounds with a few dimples kind of like a golf ball.
