John and I played a hunch based on good evidence but came up empty today, no silver and no Indians at the new site, but we gave it a good kickin' and scraped up just a handful of wheats, but, hey, we had to try. After 3 hours of beatin' the bushes we met back at the vehicles and John says "You want to go back to the mansion?" So we did.

Try as we may there, the Indians remained elusive today, so my December total stands, as it did on Thursday at 19. There was one sweet find back at the mansion and this was the 1899 O mint Barber dime. Down just 5 inches, I was stunned to see that "ONE DIME" staring up at me, and thankful to finish December with silver.

The day brought some interesting glassware/pottery finds as well. Notably, the older coca-cola bottle piece from which the "D" in PAT'D and the "23" from 1923 can be seen, and the large aquamarine partial bottle base with the words "NEW YORK". So the marble streak stopped today just as the Indians went silent once again.

Thanks to everyone on TreasureNet who's followed/encouraged throughout 2016. Happy hunting to you guys in 2017!

I've heard from the park ranger who lives across the road that he gets some sheds from time to time. We had two of our sons over for dinner the day after Christmas and we had a good laugh recalling when they were youngins and I "dragged" the both of them across the road to a thicket where I had found a large buck that had just died. While they stood a distance away I hacksawed the antlers and later mounted them to a finished board and hung them in the kitchen. There they've stayed for more than twenty years. One side has 9 points and the other 8.

No pics, sounds like a pig!! They do get big in the city. Here's one side off a Rockville hog I found in 99, never found the other side. This side scored 108" and had 14 points.
