Old picture of a lil fella that had his 14th birthday yesterday.

How many dogs do you have?

11.
Only one officially mine is left.
The rest are hers.
Though I was in on the birthing of many of them.
And "my boy" was the foundation stock stud that produced U.K.C. champions and grand champions. Including #1 in the U.S.A. ,and I believe beyond the U.S. one year.
He's still around. And a brother of his. Wait , there's another brother too...

I dodged shows except for a few.(People , More people. Politics. Dogs lookin at me like , what the....)
My part was caring for them at home ,as it is now. We raised a few litters over the course of a decade approx.. Working to improve the breed.
And breeding is about a trip.(!) Delving into pedigree and inline breeding vs out-crossing and faults and what to avoid in breedings specifically for a given breed.
What male of what...Well nevermind , it's a rabbit hole that makes more sense after going down it.

"My Boy" was an exceptional hunting partner. Fished with me too. ( As an observer. He didn't reel very well...Or even try very much.)
Adapted almost effortlessly to my change.
That mattered on the hunt...And we had stories!
His daughter was my pick of the litter stud fee. She was climbing out of the dishpan we'd put her in after birth before she was dry. Then climbing out of the puppies X pen. (Exercise pen/fence.)
Lots of drive. And not a show dog temperament. L.o.l.. We had that in common right away.
Her ashes are next to My Boys.

Lots of pics of our dogs on the internet.
I don't promote them though.
Too many of me , and too much info about where and what I am.
And...They don't convey the bringing pups into the world and seeing them off eventually.
Helping a first time momma calmly as possible whelp . And trying to keep my ladyfriend calm too ,so the momma dog don't pick up on any anxiety...l.o.l.
lending a hand if anything goes wrong.
Weighing newborns after trimming cords and drying them a bit and checking them out before writing time of birth , description of pup ,color ect.
Naming litters.
Conditioning pups to be handled by vets/strangers. (Eye check. Feet/toes check. Ears check. Teeth check.)
Exposing them to sights and sounds in varied ways. Different textures under their feet.
Socializing pups with other dogs. With numerous people if they are going to be around people.

We sold some pups.
And refused some potential buyers who did not understand the breed , or that we were selling our kids. Not common chattel.
Contract required. And nice guy that I am , no funny business.

Since no longer breeding , our bloodline remains recognized. And the right eye , (like my partners) has more than once found it in other litters of other breeders, on sight..

Looks like we have a chance for rain through Friday. Thursday and Friday being the highest chance.

Hope yours is uneventful Sis.
Monday we had a EF1 land in our county, then this afternoon, we had two more land in the county that borders us on the west. It just smelled like Tornadoes yesterday and today and they all hit with little to no warning. It is muggy right now.

Dug some glass yesterday. Found a small dump on the property. The medicine bottle is 1900-1920.
The qrt beer is a little older. Applied lip, and a small pontil.

Geesh! That's a lot of pups running about! They rule your world, don't they? You are not the master, you are the servant, or maybe, slave. You should post some pics on Simon's Pet Pics thread.

And speaking of Simon....

Hello! How's our favorite researcher/writer?

All the talk on the news for days is about the anniversary of the tornadoes that came through here. We are still not cleaned up. So don't send us any!!!! Glad you are safe! It is raining right now. Cool. I don't have to water the garden. Not going to have to worry much. There's not going to be much of a garden. The deer have discovered it already. :BangHead:

I do love the bottles! You should post your shelves so Rusty can see. I haven't found but a couple whole ones since you were on here last. Lots and lots of broken glass.

Master of wrangling more than servant. So says me....
I understand them and they me well enough.
Then I get around people and their doings....And guess which species makes more sense more often?
