I'm cutting the nice flame grain mahogany right now....just used my brother in laws Kbuta excavator to set a giant log up on dunnage for curing and cutting. Got her up under a nice shade tree for protection. I'm really enjoying my work time up at the log lot....its almost 11when the clock hits 12:00 it's time for another case of corona !! Wooo hooo !! Flip flop loggers !!

Panzers in the snow.jpgPanzer firing.jpg

I would like to say I'm a better tank operator than a pilot, but in reality, I suck at both air and land. :laughing7: Here, my Panzer III leads an attack on a Russian village, 1942. I a few tanks from different countries, but each are so ugly, and useless, the Panzer seems to always be the better option.

This German soldier seems pretty chill, even though I just strafed and bombed his armored columns of tanks and troops.

Low level attack.jpg

The key to a good fight is, get in really low, and fast. American P-38s are great for this kind of attack.

Work goes on. Legs (nearly perfect) finish and shows the patina the entire piece will get later.

To clean the very tiny head of the Horus son and Isis with very detailed wig and inlaid eyes will take MONTH and a lot of coffee :tongue3:

Very nice so far. What are you using to restore it?

To remove the big incrustations a supra sonic scaler. For finer work a scalpel and to smooth the patina very fine grinding material. This fine nail polish files does a GREAT job too!! sometimes I prepare flattened tooth sticks and fix tiny sand paper on it to bring out very tiny details or polish the patina on difficult to reach areas.

Sometimes on Egyptian bronzes you got incrustations that are a centimeter thick. There I use a dremel tool with diamond heads to grind it off and not to waste the expensive scaler tips. But you have to know very well the iconography of stuff or you can damage details or the surface. It is nothing for someone without experience. I´ve cleaned some thousand Egyptian bronzes the last 30 years so it is easy for me. I can read the patina so to say 8-)

Unfortunately you can not get such a patina like on the Isis on every Egyptian bronze. Most have in fact a very bad patina. Some restorers just try to grind it down and than you got a nice smooth red cuprit patina but in fact all details or gold inlays are hidden under it! You wont believe on how many I found gold, insriptions, special engravings etc after a second restoration :laughing7:
Just a question of taste if you prefer a nice patina or if you want to see all engraved details and that´s the difference between a collectors restoration or an archeological restoration.
