Buddy, I guess it is maybe from 3rd Reich but I think much earlier. May around WWI

It shows the german Reich flag (which has nothing to do with the Nazis at all!) and the Iron cross. Maybe it is a ring from a 1st WW soldier who got the Iron cross in the war.

My grandpa had something similar as a pin because he lost all his medals in the Rheinwiesenlager / camp as POW.

Nice piece of history and a great find!! Do you remeber where you found it?

My thoughts exactly, because I think the Iron Cross was phased out a little by the time WWII rolled around.

So your grandpa was a German soldier? What kind? Infantry, Luftwaffe, Panzer... (By the way, I'm don't have a problem with that, I like studying the Germans too. I am, after all, mostly German.)

Speaking of which, do you restore a lot of WWII stuff over there? America has its Civil War crowd, I'm assuming the WWII crowd is over the water.

I'm trying to accumulate WWII stuff now, when it's cheap, because after 2039-2045, I suspect prices will spike.

I already have one thing, a German Fire Police patch, from Stanzach Austria, during the German occupation.

RR,.... the laws can be different in other countries,..... some things just arn't allowed.

You're used to being here,..... where it's just about anything goes.

He was an Offizier (don´t know the exakt english Rank) of an tank battalion. He just was married to my grandma who was pregnant at this time when he was "forced" to go to the Army.

He was one year POW and than he found back his family in 1947 on an other place in west germany because they had to flee from Schlesia (now stolen Polland).

Not for collectors! I just restored for a museum a lot of stuff some years ago.

Looks like Tom bailed on the RCT... and just posts here now.
