in michigan near the grand river..rock highly unlikely..at first i thought it might be some type of cutting tool because it looks almost like its been worked into a sharp edge but after hours of looking at it i kind of ruled that out because it just dosent seem sharp enough..ive seen many indian artifacts and it dosent look to be worked as many of the cutting tools ive found .to me it looks like some sort of carnavor tooth.. by the way it would be faceing back...if it was in a mouth...i could be wrong tho

The way teeth are made they will usually contain some of the material left from such. It does not look right to me for a tooth. got an colleges or musems around you? Paleontologist would be able to tell you better.

I'm also leaning towards Indian artifact rather than tooth.

Stone tools not made from cherts or obsidian were usually made by abrading or grinding. I believe you found one of them.

Could be an early, very early, Paleo Indian tool made from a softer stone which would explain the roughness. The bone breaker tools were not that sharp to start with. The shape is consistant with manmade. As far as a tooth, it would have to be a carnivore tooth, and most fossil teeth found are much smoother than that, plus it does not look like any tooth that I have ever seen. So,,, my guess would be No:1. early Paleo artifact, or No:2 freak of nature :) :). Just my thoughts, Tony
PS: The PHDs say that people have been in the Americas only 12000 years. I think it is has been much, much longer!!!
