All those dark objects in the pics were pieces of iron and scrap metal from the oil rigs including bits of steel cable. It makes it darn near impossible to run in relic mode. I was swinging away anyway and got a signal that went off and even at disc 10 sounded good. Laying partially uncovered was what lookded like a jar made of milk glass. I checked it and it still gave a good signal. I saw that it was made to come apart-now here I'm thinking Oh Boy! Well when I opened it, it turned out to be a ladies compact type container with a copper/brass insert. Shucks! Nothing but what remained of powder-no coins.? :'(
I went on to find partially buried, a porcelin doll with the arms and legs missing. I was able to find the arms a foot or so away but she is still legless and also suffered a labotomy (aka-broken head) HaHa! Thus the nickname CSI doll. ;D
Another area sounded off and I found a small ornate brass valve of some kind. Maybe a gas valve? I did find a couple of intact jars but have no markings on them. There is also a brass handle that is somewhat ornate. I had also found a milk glass cold cream jar with the lid still intact.

That's some old and neat stuff, keep up the good work! I've found the heads to two Pillsbury doughboy lookin porcelain things under concrete in my basement, probably from an old cookie jar. Your doll reminded me of them, thanks!

I can imagine how your heart jumped when you found that container. Congrats on your finds.

GL & HH,

Looks like a gas-light fixture - the mantle/glass fixture screwed onto the threads, so the image shows it upside-down.

Neat Stoney!

You gotta go back and find the rest of that baby doll!

Nana

Find the rest? haha! I'm sure it's there but we're talking an area 3 miles X 4 miles square. Ya wanna help? ;D
It's big enough that everybody on TNet can have an acre all to himself. LOL

It looks like this site is going to take a bunch of patience!

Nice finds. Keep us posted, will ya??

HH!

U bet, Tx. Patience is definitely an asset as it would be so easy to just do a hit and miss. I have some old pics of this area and trying to align them with current local is somewhat difficult.

I found one of those gas light fixtures. It incredible how ornate it is....just for a little valve.

That glass sure is purty!

Nice digs!

Cool compact!

Great Finds.

More, More ;D

Jeff. LOL definetly gonna be more. Have to make sure good batteries in camera and detector. Can't afford to miss anything. It would be nice if was able to get an aerial color view of this place though. So much weeds and such is hiding some areas and you can walk for miles which can wear you out as well. So stay tuned for Part 4 as this is just the tip of the icebreg. ;)

My grandfather worked those oil fields in OKL. and Texas in the 20's and 30's. He moved the family from one to another all through out there. He use tell me stories about how the towns were portable and would shift from oil field to oil field. Much of it being canvas tents, that the workers with family lived in, as well as many of the businesses were in tents. Especially saloons.
Did you try down the middle of the main street? He told me how they use to turn into quagmires and everything got stuck and the people couldn't get across. And if you ever dropped anything in it. It was history. Great looking site. Good luck with it.
Did you try around the base of the tree by the house in the very first picture? HH

Later in life I thought about what he use to tell me. And like it says below the picture, it sounded like what the gold rush must of been like. Except for toting the family along.
I see the street is dirt. If you know where it was, have you takin a stroll down it? (Detector in hand) I'll bet the board walkway had more than a few cracks in it, for things to fall through. HH
