Getting the most for silver coins?

I just sold 5 1964 halfs to my friend at his coin shop and I got $21.42 for all of them. Morgans he is paying around $11.98 each so I guess its who you go to. My friend pays people for the silver content in the coin and bases it off of the current silver market price. These were sold this past Saturday when silver was @ 14+ an ounce. What I would do is call around to diferant dealers and ask what they are paying for silver that day. Its also a good idea to let the guy know that you already know the spot price of silver for that day. Many dealers love to rip off people and if you do not know what you have they will do so. I had this one dealer offer me .55 for a silver half one time a few years back when silver was lower, problem ws my friend Tom was paying $1.89 each. After he seen my reaction to his offer he then asked me what I thought I should get . I then explained to him that I get the open bid price per silver contnet to which he replied " Well, I have allot of those anyway". BS!!!! one can never have to much silver, he was just trying to get one over on me. In turn I never steped foot in his shop again and never will. Tom as of today pays $4.42 per dollar face for 64 and prior silver coins. If you happen to have a semi or key date he wil offer you the premium of that coin. All in all you just have to shop around until you find an honest dealer. I know they are hard to come by but there are a few left out there.
