1-19-2012 Hi TN TH ers , Until yesterday getting lucky meant finding my car in the mall parking lot. A few winter hunts with nothing to shout about led to a desperation move to hunt a cellar hole that has been pounded out for decades by countless others including myself . I started on the outer perimeter where my first keeper was a laborer badge or hat emblem WJ RR related . I hit a few flat buttons which goes with the old theory that a place is never hunted out . I was told a 1860 Army Colt pistol came out of this hole . Never know . This cellar hole is a big one as seen in the pic . Early 1800's wealthy landowner mansion . Sifting through the debris of red brick is a pain but it was worth it . Button , another button , a few more buttons , nails , a button , more nails , a button etc. Three missed coins in the rubble . My first for 2012 Bust dime and two 1840's large cents . The well worn dime is a 1821 but it has been a while for an early dime , in fact that hunt produced a couple of sweet coins and made it to the top . At first glance the black disc was a one reale . Found out hours later that is wasn't Spanish but early US silver after a few baths to get the black oxidation off to get some detail . A great start for the New year and finally got a little action out here in the jersey woods . Thanks for stopping in , 8) dawg
