I've been told that if you duct tape a horseshoe to the shaft of your metal detector it brings good luck. Nice find!

Whammy is right, probably wasn't the horse attached correct to the shoe.
To your location, you have nice places to hunt around and you pick one of the rare reforested areas. With a bit homework you're not far from 1800 year old coins.
