If there is any gold there it will be flakes as far as I know there isn’t any nugget type gold here. I see black sand in the creeks in Bartow county idk if there is gold though.

Has any of you heard if any gold has been found in the Coosawttee River near Eljay Georgia? A guy here in Florida I went to school with has 600 yards of river front that I could dredge and sluice. I dont see much online evidence of gold in Murry county though. I'll be camping/panning 35 miles from there next week.
Since you already have permission scout it out and do some prospecting.

Good luck.

Let us all know how you do there! Good luck!

Going to the Alabama Gold Camp was a great time for me . Real nice people running it and a NICE place to visit for gold ! I wish I was able to go back there and visit friends ! :icon_thumleft:

well I did not take the one hour drive go to the Coosawttee River. I had too many other locations to check out during my two week stay and I found zero evidenance online of gold being found there. Maybe next time which will be in a few weeks but now I got to get home and mow the yard, its been raining in central west Florida. I will be teaming up with my cousin in a couple months. Hes moving to central georgia from florida and he skin dives and is certified for mixed gas. I hope to get him onto a location for some sniping I guess somewhere on Etowah or Chesstatee. Any tips on where to snipe or is Georgia gold just not big enough for that.

Not sure about it's proximity to your location but there's gold in georgia in two regions; one is the greenstone belt that runs from a bit east/southeast of atlanta and trends north/northeast all the way up to virginia, the other place is in the far northwestern portion of georgia and runs up into kentucky-ish iirc.

Fine gold will be in the greenstone belt, chunky stuff (if any) will be in the northwestern part of the state. My understanding is finding open ground is a lot harder in the NW portion.

Yea I have a place in Kennesaw was thinking of bringing a gild detector but seems like its probably more time spent knocking on doors to get land use. Gotta love Nevada.

Don, Im 70 and know what you mean, I classify to 1/4 inch, cary in the plastic bags that water softner salt comes in, has handles and can cary more weight than what I'm able to very far. I usually cary about 25 pounds per bag. wont tip over and spill like a bucket. put a trash bag inside if you dont want it leaking water out.
