That's right but the statement is the statement regardless of who is making it. We are not politicians, we are people discussing issues / correct.

It is a common debate exercise to debate a topic and them turn around and debate the other side. Would either side argued be any less valid based upon what the speakers believe?? Of course not. This is why there is never a need for personal comments and it is meaningless to any discussion. Best.

Sorry, but you appear to be under the impression we are a debate club.

Look at sticky above, forum has never been to debate 2nd amendment.

We could run it like televised political debates but then all forms of mud slinging would be allowed.

If you want to debate the 2nd amendment seek out a debate club or forum designed for that. I suggest checking out the USMC forums I am sure you can get a lively debate on 2nd there. :D

Not at all. Only looking to post other pro second points of view. Not every pro second person believes that the gov is trying to kill them or there are big global conspiracies. I think plenty of other have pointed this out. There are many fringe views posted that 99.999 percent of patriotic gun rights folks do not believe in. Just because you don't believe the gov is trying to take over the world doesn't not make you anti second amendment / right ??

If you want to rewrite the thread and say that only extremist anti Obama / anti government posts are allowed that's perfectly fine. It's fully your right to do that.

This exactly mirrors my (and the vast majority of pro second folks) opinion on the second. Does this make us all anti second along with Scalia??

"""But no less an authority than Justice Antonin Scalia has written, “Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose” —"""

I would have to recommend against this. It might bring some unwanted attention from the government. They typically do not like it when people get together and start plotting against them. Not that anyone here is plotting, but a title like that could be easily misconstrued. Back to the original point: The whole of the 2nd forum must be examined to understand its essence and not just the title.

Agree. But always best just to call the spade the spade. No offense to anyone but I don't think the gov gives 2 .... about what is said on the thread by a couple of people.

(In the past) several have taken it upon themselves to interpret what my stance is on this topic.

I would like to state for the record that I support gun ownership as well as the 2nd Amendment. I do believe that it is open to interpretationif the legislative and judicial processes are followed. I would not be opposed to restrictions placed on gun ownership as long as it was reasonable and it went along with the majority of what the people want. I do not support gun fanaticism or extremism of any kind.

Most importantly, I think the people of America need to take responsibility for themselves and their own personal actions. That means do not blame the Government and do not rely on the Government.
I agree with everything you said even the last statement except when things are done behind closed doors without public knowledge. I just don't have that much faith in people, much less politicians. Once bitten, twice shy. Also, you have that word "if" in there. "If" doesn't determine circumstance, it only determines your sentiment towards the circumstance being questioned.
As for the liberal, conservative, Republican, Democrat aspect, the answer lies somewhere in the middle. No matter how much it's used as a partial platform in election campaigns, bipartisan politics doesn't exist, unfortunately. The two parties are more polarized than they have ever been in this country's history. Extremism is on the rise in both parties.

Maybe not, but you better believe they are reading it.
