The "Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger," was modified today with a nice home made camo jacket built with a nice thick wool sock to give some decent insulation value. The machine is now referred to as my "Garrett Snowpion Cold Stinger. To keep the 3 x 9 volt batteries warm, I inserted one of those hot pacs just underneath the camo jacket, beside the rod as shown. Worked dang good too, as after about 5 hours, I was still getting 5 beeps for a battery check, which means that they are still fully charged.

I read some reviews on this machine on the Net, (From people I dfo not know). All 9 reviews were thumbs-down. I live in Oregon, and Gold Fever is starting around , Mountain/Riiver areas. Was looking in to getting one/ or a Whites GMt.Looking for a decent small-unit/to collasp-space saver, climbig up 25/30% grades folllowig uo-streams. Any nugget experience with yours? THANKS

I haven't used it for nugget hunting, only for searching for highly mineralized areas where I was getting flour gold. It's not known for it's depth like machines caosting 4-5 x as much. However, it is known to find those tiny nuggets. It is the best metal detector I have ever used for getting Canadian clad and rings.
