Not too many relics would be made of aluminum would they? Aluminum rings up with the loud belltone on my detector. Iron or steel comes in with a much lower pitched tone and is more likely to be a relic. Now brass or copper might come in as a penny icon or even on up to the silver range, but it won't be shown as a coin unless it is very small..... or at least it does on my detector. I guess what it comes down to as we have heard many times, dig everything if you're not sure. Monty
 

A true All-metal mode will pick up the ground noise, which a person (given that the detector has the option) then adjusts out with the GB, or ground tracking takes care of it. SAT can do a bit, but is a poor alternative. If a person didn't GB, the ground noise could very well overwhelm the target signal(s). ..Willy.
 

Then I will have to learn to GB better.. ;)
Even when in "Zero" mode I have trouble with hot rocks..So I will have to learn to GB.
