GARRETT GTI 1500 REPAIR

I have to send my GTI 1500 back to Garrett in the morning it just went crazy on me all it does is keep flashing from one program to another and i can not stop it.This is the second time this year i have to send it back the first time it would not give out a sound..............................................................But when they sent it back to me the first time they jammed my 1500 into a ACE 250 box not a pretty sight when i opened it i don't see how they got it in there. I called Garrett and asked for a GTI 1500 box since they kept mine and the girl told me you could not get a 1500 in to a 250 box she did not belive me i got the box in my garage. .............................I know it is a 250 box for i have a 250 and the box it came in. But they did send me a 1500 box free of charge.I don't see how someone would not know that detector would not fit in that box . Just trying to put it in there had to be a job it did not fit right.It was jammed in there.......There got that off my chest.... ==Jim==
 

I had to send my GTI 1500 in also for going wacko just like yours plus being unstable. I got it back quickly and it doesn't seem to be as efficient as before. I have no confidence in it and it sits in a corner. I won't be ordering any more Garrett's.

...Thats the same with mine ..Sandman.. when i got it back in March it never did seem as good as it was after they repaired it. They said they upgraded the chip in it but it sure seemed like they down graded it.......I never used it that much this year did not like it any more. ==Jim==
 

I had to send mine in several years ago for something similar. I didn't pay much attention to which box it came in, as I only sent in the coil with the electronics. But it came back with a new coil and they cleaned it up and put in a new face plate free of charge. If I wasn't satisfied with my machine upon return, I would have called Garrett and they would have resolved the situation. My Garrett buddies and myself have nothing but praise for Garrett's customer service. But....it's not a perfect world out there. Sorry to hear you guys had those issues.....

always thought they were one of the best whenever

Sherm, I got the detector back fast and the screens worked like when I bought it, it just didn't seem the same. When you have many detectors to choose from you don't mind trying to get it fixed right. I should send it back in and see if it is up to spec.

I've had great customer service from Garrett, Minelab, Tesoro and Whites in the past.
