Hi, I'm hopping someone can help me find what exactly I have found. it's a big chunk of melted metal the size of a tea cup plate, it's heavy. At first lead came to my mind but what's making me question my judgement is the reading I got. I believe is a solid 90 every time I pass it by the metal detector. it was about 10' down the ground, I found some burn coal or sort of ash around it. my guess is someone melt it it and lost it in the ash or just left it for garbage.

Melted beer/soda cans by the sounds of it

Metal detectors cannot tell what kind of metal you have, they mostly just measure conductivity and large pieces of aluminum or even iron will give you the 90 reading. On a coin sized object 90 may mean silver but that doesn't apply to large objects. Quite likely melted aluminum as digging says. I hope the 10' down is a typo!!

You can get a test kit off Amazon for a variety of metals - handy for this hobby. I'd agree it's likely melted cans though. I get silver signals on cans often.

If it's heavy it's not melted aluminum. Got any pics to share?

Old camp fire. Nothing there. Don't waste your time there.

Sorry I took so long to get back. Here are some pictures of the metal chunk 77F07A67-2C98-4715-ACF5-7BF0478106DB.jpeg4763DB95-5579-4168-AEA3-6EE862FA4E05.jpeg

I uploaded a few pics. what do you think?

yes I uploaded a few. sorry it took so long to post.

that is good to info to know. I don't think is aluminum cause of the weight. lead is my guess. and yes I meant 10" not feet lol

Looks like a big campfire nugget to me. Light for it's size=aluminum, imo.

That is a chunk of lead with some slag in it from the bottom of a lead melting pot. I have cast thousands of sinkers and bullets, this is what is left after pouring lead from a pot into molds. After the leftover lead cools it can be removed from the pot by turning pot upside down and tapping it. The lead will fall out looking exactly like what you have found.
