This has happened to me before but today is just anther example. So today I was out metal detecting this field and I had sensitivity all the way up and was using a larger coil. (This happened to me with small coils as well, though). I kept getting signals that were high up on the detect it's scale (like a silver signal) but very faint, like it would sound, then it would be quiet but after 2 more swings or so it would sound again. These signals typically registered deep like 6-8+ inches. It happened before, but today I was getting a lot if them. I wasn't bumping the cool or anything but what could this be?

Thanks

Did you dig the signals? I know on a lot of machines a signal that doesn't always repeat is usually junk.

I really didn't want to waste time because I knew it was deep and I just don't wanna dig a huge deep hole for niyhing

not trying to be a smart mouth (fingers), but we cant help you. you have to go dig it up and see what it is so you know.

Mebbe also change your username to Idunwanna-DiggItUp

This is an odd post

You get a weird signal and are looking for help....but you never dug those signals?

Hmmm getting strange signals with the gain turned all the way up.....well theres your first problem your falsing

My wife has to run our 250 two notches down from max sensitivity. Depending on the soil conditions sometimes less.
Turn it down a bit and you wont get the beeps your referring too.
It took me awhile to learn it but remember, it's called "sensitivity" and not "depth" for a reason. Turn it down it couple notches and you wont lose much depth if any at all. :icon_thumleft:

HH good luck!

thank you for the information on the sensitivity of the Garrett Ace 250 cant wait to try it.

Never ran no more than 3 bars on my 250. If I ran it any higher it wouls drive me insane.

Yea you really can't use the sensitivity all the way jacked up you will get tons of ghost signals and you will dig nothing but to china so turn your sensitivity down to -3 or less I have the Ace 350 and I hardly run it at -2 and if I do it's just in a small area so it don't get jumpy signals like you speak of and I was running with my sensitivity on half today and found a old Vintage Liberty Torch Medallion about 4"-6" deep. So go back out with it on -2 and if you get that signal again turn your sensitivity down a notch at a time and rescan until you get only 3 notches lit and if its still sounding a signal like a coin dig it up. When I say -2 that means only 2 notches from max sensitivity and on down, I run at -4 or -5 from the max on my Ace 350 when I'm in trashy areas so 90% of the time and you have to dig those pull tabs and cans to find the rings. GOOD LUCK go try that and let me know if that works for you. Oh and get your self a Garrett Pro Pointer I had didn't have one for 3 weeks and I couldn't stand it plus it will speed your dig time up and you will dig smaller holes which is better in parks and nice places where you can't dig a nasty hole, always pick up any trash you come across on the surface or in the hole and make sure to ALWAYS FILL IN YOUR HOLES

Ya well you need to run it on half way sensitivity most of the time, then you can notch it up one by one until you start getting ghost/jumpy signals in certain spots but I run my Ace 350 on half sensitivity
