Garrett 2500 vs minelab SE ?

So earthmansurfer are you talking from experience with the Garretts or just what you read on the forums? Have you got to try out the AT Pro yet? Unless you have tried them both (E-Trac and AT Pro) it would be hard for you to give anything other than speculation as to which is better.

I am keeping an eye on the AT Pro, but I would not be willing to say I would take it over the E-Trac based on what someone else said because I havent even got to use the AT Pro yet.

I have just read the forums and watched videos - as I stated. I am using data and experiences found and relaying them. There might be some speculation, for as you said I don't have either unit. But, it's pretty easy to find an air test from each unit and post it, that isn't speculation. Taking an air number and guessing what it would amount to in the ground would be speculating (but not entirely off base - but I didn't do that anyway). Reading a post from someone who has used both (or checked signals) is not speculating. But I will say I'm depending on the integrity of the messenger. Now, maybe people are sometimes dishonest. Actually, that might be the case as, well, my next paragraph sums it up.

Today I was banned from the Garrett's Finds forum. I was not given a warning or a message, just can't log in to that one particular forum on Finds. They didn't like the review I posted there of Tom Dankowski's AT Pro experience. It was 95% great but mention the coil problems on the AT Pro. Other threads were deleted and modified by the mods due to the sponsors. It is terrible what is happening over at finds, at least on the Garrett forum i should say. You can't compare detectors unless your brand is the forum brand and comes out on top. Anyway I'm going to be much more careful regarding the AT Pro as it seems something funny is going on at the Garretts forum at Finds. There is no reason why a sponsor should pressure mods into deleting posts of reviews that contain some information which is critical.

Why not just get a White's V3? ..Willy.

Maybe because he wants to avoid EMI problems. The Noise cancel with the explorer series makes that more possible!
That's why the V3 has a frequency offset and, if the interference is extreme, the ability to operate in single frequency mode. Also, the Etrac is totally outclassed by the V3 when it comes to gold, especially small gold. ..Willy.

So, if EMI is great, operate in single frequency? That is SUPERIOR to the ETRAC? The etrac still operates in FBS while noise canceling. Please explain!

he doesn't have to explain. all you have to do is see how many used etracs are for sale versus the v3 used

It is almost childish what is going on over at findmall in the Garrett forum. They dont want to hear the truth about potential problems with the AT pro. I have just read the threads and have not replied to any even though I was tempted. If all someone has ever used was a lower end Garrett then the AT Pro may be the best detector in thier eyes. I can take a cheapo bounty hunter and go to spots I know are just loaded with clad and make posts how awesome it is. I could probably pull 100 or more coins in a couple hours and claim its the best thing ever made. I use what works for me in my area. If I find something that works better than the E-Trac or Omega I will use it and sell the other one I dont care who makes it. Well I do take warranty and customer service into account too.....;o)

I may still buy an AT Pro just to try once people start selling them. The prices will go way down. I saw where people were getting them brand new for $499. So by the time I want to try one I figure I can pick one up for $425 or so used. I am waiting to see if they make some improvements first.

Maybe you should actually READ my post instead of scurrying off and trying to 'put words in my mouth'. Now tell everyone where I stated that the ability to operate in single frequency made the V3 superior to the Etrac? C'mon Sherlock, show your amazing deductive powers. Pointing out that the V3 has a frequency offset (for dealing with EMI) and can run in a single frequency mode says..what? Just that; it has ways of dealing with EMI. Wow, what an insult to the Etrac.. Minelab must surely be cooking up a lawsuit. The sheer gall of it.
Where I did tout an advantage that the V3 has over the Etrac was in the area of gold.. especially small gold. Notice that http://www.akmining.com/forums/show...for-Alaska?s=a1d8f1ea14d0dfcef043a9f903b5442e has no mention of the Etrac, but does have the V3; I wonder why? ..Willy.
