I would like to hear from pwners of the Garrett 1350. I started out about 12 years ago with a Garrett GTAX500. I thought it was really groovy, until about 6 or 7 months ago and I bought a new 1350. Needless to say, the 1350 was a much better detector compared to the 500.
What I am wondering is, why I never find anything deeper than about 4 inches? I generally hunt in the custom mode and keep only the penny thru 50¢ open and notch out everythig else when I coin hunt. I found a few silvers 1877 thru 1912, but all were only about 2" deep. Is there a different coil I need to use (I have the stock elliptical coil on it now) Is there so kind of a "boost" unit I can add to get more depth?

Hey Mutt,

Check my post from yesterday, "First finds with GTP 1350."

Last evening was my first time with the 1350. Both Wheaties were at least 5" deep. I was hunting in coin mode. I even dug a couple of very small washers at around the same depth. I am next going to try the yard in jewelry mode.

I would do an air test first, The gtp will hit coins deeper then that you just have to get your coil over the target. Also Check your sensitivity. Also I have found with mine that jewelry mode gets a little deeper and hunting in this mode will allow you to find Bronze Indian heads that read as a zinc penny on mine and deeper copper coins that sometimes read as zinc. If you want a little more depth get the 9x12 coil . Hope this helps HH.
