Game Strip & Wood...
My eyes & ears told me that a couple of Game Strips (Maize) have been flatten ready to plough in. It was 2 fields over from the wood so it was worth a try to see if the Roman area stretched that far. I spent 1 hour in the bitting wind with only 2 musket balls & a 17th C Button. So went to the Wood to seek shelter & find better stuff. (hunting alone again)
3 Hours in the woods with exactly 100 shotgun cartridges, below was the result:
4 Roman Coins - Couple of good ones
1 scrappy Iron Age (Celtic) Bronze Unit - 2nd from this wood
A mount which was in such great condition that I thought it was Georgian rubbish, but its Roman & had a enamelled bar decoration. I have never seen this type in any books, not on any of the 2 UK databases. Must be a rarer type of mount but for what??
