funny ebay problem - lot vs multiple listing

The point is the seller did it because he knew some people would take a chance thinking maybe it was an error and he would hold to the deal. That is exactly what is going on with the poster here, and it has nothing to do with whether someone thinking it was the correct price. I'm not surprised he changed it because it's more hassle than it's worth playing games like that.

Looks like the seller edited his listing in title and description. 1955 D WASHINGTON SILVER QUARTERS GEM UNCIRCULATED 200 for sale individually | eBay

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

Bought this yesterday. Already paid but it did not ship. Seller emailed me today and says "it said Lot of 200, however you only purchased 1 quarter, I was only selling one quarter so if you thought you were purchasing a lot of 200 quarters I am only sending 1, if that is not satisfactory I will gladly refund your money. Please let me know if you knew you were only purchasing 1 quarter, and I will send it out asap".

How should I proceed?

You did the right thing by accepting the refund and being done with it. For anyone familiar with the value of the item and Ebay listings it should be obvious that it was a innocent mistake on the sellers part.

Anyone familiar with Ebay should know the wording of the listing opens doors for all sorts of problems as a seller, regardless of the actual value of the item. Mistake... yes, innocent... cannot be determined by anyone other than the seller.
I usually agree with you Dig's but I can determine it wasn't no accident by atleast 2 things with the auction.. he put 200 lot meaning with the wording all 200 for one price yet the shipping was only 75 cent? (red flag #1) then the buyer on here says it says more then 10 (red flag #2) if you ever see more then then you are bidding on a single item for that lot not the whole lot one price
 I hear you, I was actually trying to be diplomatic for once by giving the seller the benefit of the doubt. :laughing7:

Bingo.

Update: The seller updated the listing as 1 coin each, refunded my money, left me positive feedback, and marked the item as shipped... I will post back if and when I actually receive something.

Ben if you wanted too you could leave neg feedback with no worries about him coming back on you..cause a seller no longer can leave neg feedback on a buyer

Great !

Apparently he is OK.

If they refunded your money odd they would post they sent you anything.
Now they need to pay Ebay also Right ?

Hopefully they actually send you the quarter anyway

I don't mean to sound harsh, but if you could please list your Ebay screen name I'd be happy to add it to my banned bidders list. The seller corrected their mistake, issued a refund and it appears that they may still be sending the coin as well. Why would anyone resort to leaving negative feedback in this situation? ???

Because it wasn't no MISTAKE!!!!!! He was doing exactly what a another poster on here said he was phishing for suckers to bid full silver price for 200 quarters to only get one in return... When Ben questioned it he knew he was walking a thin line to be banned from ebay so he corrected it in a hurry to save his own.....

It was a buy it now listing with more than 10 available. $50 face value in silver quarters will run a lot more than $12.75 shipped. The seller may well have tried to play on someone's greed and hoped they would just go through with the transaction, but if that is the case he learned it far more trouble than what it is worth.

oh a buy it now.. either way the guy was tryin to put the screws down on some people.. I can't believe how many people want to argue how honest this guy is.. it is in plain writing that he is a crook....

Actually the original (wrong) wording of the listing was an easy out for anyone who wanted to file a NSAD case against him to get their money back. Stupid is as stupid does.

Exactly. This guy isn't honest at all. He knew exactly what he was doing. Who makes a listing and doesn't double check it? It's not like he is listing 500 items a day and doesn't have the time to check each one. If the guy doesn't send the quarter, I would leave a negative feedback. Otherwise, he will just continue pulling stuff like this in the future.

College has spoken! (I've been waiting to drop that :laughing7:)
