I am back in Florida playing on the beach. This is my first time this year. Last year was a good year when I found a diamond necklace and a gold coin. However, the necklace did end up costing me $3000. When I gave her the necklace she decided she would rather have a ring. By the time we left the jewelry store, the 1 carat diamond necklace I found had become a 1.5 carat diamond ring! Sometimes I think I would have been better off to just have through it back down into the sand!!
When searching on the beach, it always makes me mad that people are so lazy they cannot walk 50 feet to a garbage can to throw away their cans and bottle caps, etc. Whenever I find then, I try to always pick them up and throw them away properly.
On Thursday night of this week, just as it was getting dark, I was heading in when my detector hit a solid 6. I figured it was probably trash, but decided to dig it anyway. About ten inches down I found some gold foil and what looked like a bottle cap. However, when I reached down to pick up the cap, I realized it was still connected to something. When I had finally dug it out, it was a glass Hennessy cognac bottle, with trash stuffed in it. If it was not bad enough someone had a glass bottle on the beach, they also buried it. Luckily, the foil and foil cover over the cork was enough to get a good signal.
As I was walking to the garbage can, and as I said, it was getting dark, I happen to look closer at the bottle and suddenly realized it was not full of trash, but rather money!!! I have not tried to get the money out yet, as I will do it when I get home this week, but I can see at least one $10 bill and lots of other bills. Hopefully, there will also be some sort of note in it as well.
So, if it was not strange enough to find an empty cognac bottle on the beach, but one full of money! So why would someone bury a bottle full of money on the beach?
As I said, fun but strange find. The rest of the week has gone well as far as finds. I have found three rings, two ear rings, a silver bracelet, a USB charger (why someone had a USB charger on the beach I will never understand) and about $5 in coins, plus other junk.
I will update this and let you know how much money was in the bottle after I get back home.
