Yup.... No serial number and no warranty yet its a smashing deal for a new machine! I think that 900 bucks is a steal for a V3i. So what if it doesn't have a warranty. i buy detectors with no warranty all the time.

Hi. I might be interested in this, though i live in norway. I have read the entire thread, and i cant understand why there isn't a few months warranty left on the detector? Also, did you buy it late 2012 and never used it?

I think that you had better call Whites again - it is their screw up for not putting a serial # on the body of the detector......why should you be punished for that?.....I know for a fact that if the build date was Nov./12 - then the 2 year warranty period would be good until Nov./14.....plain and simple. Did you buy this detector from a Whites dealer - if so - ask him for help in getting this issue straightened out.

We all know Whites customer service is probably the best out there, so I don't know why this issue couldn't be easily resolved if this is an authentic Whites unit. I guess if the seller does not want to resolve it, then its up to any prospective buyer to call Whites themselves and verify if the machine is legit. Remember the Law presumes "Caveat emptor" (Let the buyer beware). I received a fake Garrett product once...it had a serial number on it, but it still wasn't real....just sayin'
