I hit the beach the last night, strolling along doing my thing, I see another MDer up the way moving at mach 1, I figure, well I'll work on aways towards him and turn around. I get lost in thought and finds (meager as they both were), look up and he's no where in sight. Cool I think, got the beach to myself, I work my way on in that direction, knowing that no one person can hunt out a beach and sure enough I stumble across one of his diggings. I sweep across it and get a hit, dig it, sure enough, he found a crushed beer can, dropped it back in the hole, covered it up and moved on......

There was a trash can 30 yards away......

I just don't understand that kind of thing.....

If its small I put it in my pouch, but I'm not filling it up with beer cans...

I take every thing I dig off the beach no matter the size. I have drug whole chair frames up to the garbage can.
If you do not carry off what you dig up you are doomed to dig the same trash again. Only takes a min to hit a trash can
so carry the trash off.

If I find a beer can or a bunch of can ,I leave them on top of the sand. The city will come and pick them up.I know throw them is a waste can,but if I do that some one in the City is going to loose his or her job.So how would you fell if you lost your because some one was doing it for FREE.

So, are you saying that anytime you sea trash laying around you pick it up and take it to the nearest trashcan or does this only apply if you dig it up at the beach? Just curious.

I carry a larger mesh bag for trash and of course a smaller zippered pouch for treasures. I had a bag that had both but found that I kept forgetting which zippered area to put one or the other in so I would have to sit and sort at the end of the day to make sure I hadn't put treasure in the trash side.

Ethics of Treasure Hunting indicate that we should take all trash with us and dispose of properly. You are not only doing others a favor but it will do you a favor next time you hunt that same area.

I have been banned from Civil War relic hunting areas because others who hunted the same area would not cover their holes and take their trash with them. It is sad when a really productive area is closed. The ney sayers only need just a little ammo to convince the powers to be to close a beach to those bad ole treasure hunters. We need to police ourselves. I am not above saying something to another hunter who is not doing the right thing. My wife has often asked me if I am not afraid of getting in a fight and my reply is that.... "I am afraid of no man, most women, and the IRS."
