I just ate some homegrown cherry tomatoes someone gave my wife at her work. They were really tasty. I kept a garden when I first moved here more than 30 ago, but traveling for work doesn't give you the time and attention they need. Thought of retiring but but I think I'll go a bit longer with the grind. The back yard went all to hell and I'm now getting back to making it all nice again. Got me a new rototiller and layed out a square in the center and planted grass seed. I raked out all the rocks and in 30 days with this super hybrid seed they now sell I had a new healthy lawn. Saved a ton over sod and that even includes the cost of the new vertical tine rototiller. Now I'm feeling a little more confident in my green thumb abilities, so maybe I'll be a gardener again in the future.??

tamrock…Good job working on the yard and that’s a nice tiller also..I still have the Troy Bilt horse tiller from 1993 and was looking for a new tiller but none were available as everyone is gardening..After all these years we finally did a raised bed garden and the results are incredible..I highly recommend it..Thanks again and Best of Luck to you..

My wife doesn't wait for our tomatoes to get ripe. She picks them when they just start to turn a little pink, slices, batters and fries them. Talk about some good eating!

Yum, can you post the recipe?

fyrffytr1. Yes indeed that’s a great way to prepare the tomatoes...please let us know what the recipe is

No gold in NY. Thanks for asking for the recipe take care

The best I can tell is slice the tomatoes thin and put them on paper towels to absorb the water in them. Then dredge them in flour, then dip them in a bowl with one or two eggs stirred together, then back into the flour and fry them in oil (my wife uses Canola oil) over medium to medium high heat until brown on one side. Flip them and brown the second side. Salt and pepper to taste. Watch the heat as they will scorch if you aren't careful.

OK, my wife informed me that is not exactly how she does them. She uses one egg and a splash of milk. She dips them in the egg mixture first, then in the flour and then fries them.
