Yesterday, I was doing work at a mine in New Mexico. The mine lost outside phone connection and just after mid-day, the call was made to bring all the guys up as it looked like a phone line was cut miles away, cells quit working also. With that, me and 60 other miners did a "High Ball" and scrambled-out-there! Its just not safe with no contact to the outside in the event of an emergency.
I headed back home up through central Colorado and did a bit of goofin around, as I had the time on the trip home. Took a few shots as I passed the town of San Luis Colo, Fort Garland, Colo. once under the command of Kit Carson as the flag was at half mast to morn those killed in the deadly shooting at the Washington Navy Yard, Took shots of the Great Sand Dunes in the San Luis Valley, Mt Princeton in the Arkansas Valley. I last took a side track to the east mountain range of Leadville, Colo. up in the old mining district to get a shot of the first snow I see dusting the mountain top for the year. Fall is here!
