What If? What are the odds of just purchasing a machine, and the very first signal you got was something really cool? :dontknow: Like REALLY cool. Well today it happened. :hello2: I received a phone call from a friend who purchased a Minelab Etrac, and GPX 5000 recently, and he asked if I wouldn't mind meeting up with him, and his wife to teach them how to setup and use their new machines. Of course I obliged, and we set a date to meet in a nearby NC town. I obtained some permission at a late 1800's home site where we proceeded a tutorial on the GPX, and Etrac. After about a half hour of the initial tutorial, I programmed my trusty coin and relic setting in their Etrac... First up to hunt was Randy's wife Lisa. I then fired up my personal Etrac, and stepped away to find a target to compare with their machine just to let them hear the signal. Not more that ONE MINUTE later, Randy waves me over and says, "Hey Mike, come over here and tell me if you would dig this signal" I walked over and swung my coil over the target and said, " Oh yeah, Sure I'd dig that!" I proceeded to instruct them how to dig a proper plug, and folded the dirt over to the side. I used my Detector Pro Pistol probe to locate the target. Nope, a little deeper. We dug a tad deeper and low behold the tell tale signs of a bright silver disk appeared atop the ground! A 1904 Charles Barber dime! Hahahaha! THE FIRST EVER SWEEP and BEEP of her metal detector! :headbang: :notworthy: After a cheerful celebration I told Randy, "now don't expect that every time now" After a frenzy of first time Wheat back pennies, some .22 cal hulls then a North Carlina state seal ring! It wasn't long after I said, "I think you're ready to try the whole process on your own" Not more than a few minutes later, I heard Randy yell, "Hey Mike! Look what we dug when you were talking to the homeowner a few minutes ago" Randy held out his hand a showed me a 1924 standing liberty Quarter! WHAT! :laughing7: Now I have seen beginers luck, but this takes the cake! I would like to Congratulate Randy and His Wife on some very superb first time digs that took most of us months to find. Good times

They might have thought you seeded the area . :laughing7: Very happy hunters now and they have a cool story to tell.

Congrats and welcome to the addiction!!!!!!!!

That's what I would expect out of a Minelab Customer Service Award Winner!! You have ruined those customers now like a guy who goes out with a new rifle and bags a huge 12 pt. buck on his first hunting trip-LOL. WTG Mike, Q.

Mike,
Congrats to Randy and Lisa on some great silver and the purchase of the new machines. :hello2:
I'm proud to call you my friend. Not too many people go out of their way like you do.
Just one thing........... Can you take me with you to a silver spot next time? :tongue3: :laughing9:

Awesome story! Great finds! :icon_thumright: Great job showing them how to run that machine. Did they at least let you finish hunting that yard? ;D

Side story - it didn't work that way for me.... first time out I took Bob to my site and HE found the 1800 2 Reale! :BangHead: :'( :tongue3: :laughing9:

I want one of each please... ;D That is an awesome story! :hello2: Nothing like a couple hunting together and to be able to find all that on their first hunt with new machines....incredible. Awesome customer service, I'd say. I hope the treasure continues to come their way.

First time I went out I found a pull tab:)....congrats

I guess I got my detector from the wrong place, mine didn't come with any sliver :BangHead: Great job if they are not hooked now they never will be. :notworthy:
