Thanks, I'm revved up & ready to go for a digging fest with mate Shaun7, I owe him a few hammered :wink: Its the best I can offer him, & I'm a little worried as he does what Dad does...something I call 'Storing up'.

They are both Lead Tokens, quite common in our area, but very little study done on them & near impossible to attribute to any maker or place. I helping a local book writer with these.

The left has two crossed I's so old English JJ, reverse plain. (circa 17th C)
The right is a fleur-de-lue, reverse similar to union jack design. (possibly 16th C)

Thanks for the reply, it's an area that's wide open yet. Lots of varieties and like you said near impossible to attribute to any maker or place.

It's something like the huge varieties in bale seals that are found in the UK soils. Lots are just noted as a lead seal, then there's all the gaming pieces. Lots of lead used.
