So probably about 6 months back I found this ring in the parking lot of my work (I work at a hotel) and had tried to find the owner for a very long time. No luck, and nobody ever called about it so I finally just took it home after 4 months and called it my own. I have looked it up and tried to do some research but could only find things that are kind of like it, not the exact ring. Seemed to be around $135 in value. Does this about right? or is it worth more or less? Also I really dont know what to do with it. A guy I work with now has told me that I should not keep it because the free masons will hunt me down and rape my children... that being said I still do not really care to keep the ring. Can I just sell it or is there laws against this sort of thing since I found it in a parking lot? Anyways any help on what it is, history, or what it is worth would be great.. also maybe an avenue to get rid of this thing would be cool too. Thanks in advance -Josh

looks like it has a name on the inside if ya dont want it mail it to me i'll put it on my finger and wear it im a mason

Ya. I thought the name would help me find the dude but it didnt whatsoever.

Most reputable pawn shops will not take it if the name inside is different from yours, or if there is an inscription that has been clearly scratched out or ground off.

It appears Eddie has moved to Anderson, MO. The phone # listed for him is 417-845-7582.

I for one would at least see if you could contact someone at the masons lodge in your area to see if they recognize the name.. Or maybe they can put you in touch with somebody that may be able to.. Also I highly doubt the masons go around hunting people down..

Ha i dont think they go hunting for folks either... I don't think this guy would live in Flagstaff but I could be wrong... Maybe I will check out a Masons place and see if they know anything... And as far as selling it I dont even know where it would be sold to.
Maybe ill try the phone number given... Thanks. will give it a shot I suppose.

It's best to check the leads you were given and if you can have him ID the ring and then return it . It must have been important to him and you'll have done a good deed . If you couldn't ID that it was his then keep it for scrap ... IMHO , Woodstock

If you exhaust all options to return it, put it in a nice box, get a metal detector, and start collecting rings.

It's a Scottish Rite ring and I would assume that the date inside is the date he was initiated into the Rite. It shouldn't be hard to find the nearest Scottish Rite lodge and ask the lodge secretary. There are two Scottish Rite Supreme Councils in the US...one in Washington DC and one in Lexington, Mass. shouldn't be hard to track the guy down from there.

Any degree of Masonry or anyone involved will not hunt anyone down, you will find 99% of Masons helpful and willing to discuss Masonry if you simply ask about it. Masonry has come a long way from the old days.
