Framing help

There is a lot of nice frames for sale but I make my own. For points I make basically a shallow hinge top box. With a glass top. Line the box portion with foam backing thick enough to almost touch the glass when lid is down. Place points on foam close lid and the glass gently presses them into the foam latch lid closed and they stay where they are. Some people use putty

These trays are set up just like Gator Boy described and have been that way for years. If you do them right your pieces will stay put and you don't need to put anything on them to hold them there.

No wander I can't find any thing! Gees Louise you got it all. Then laugh at my geos. Dirty dog:-)

Thanks guys. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, but that's just one end of my artifact room. I guess that's what happens when you have been collecting for 47 years and yes most all of it is personally found.

I was wondering... with all the artifacts you have did you ever start to try to find some from all the states.. or something to set the bar higher for yourself?

Late Prehistoric village sites had large numbers of inhabitants located on the same
site for multiple years. Over time the artifacts become quite concentrated on these
late sites. Compared to some other earlier time periods the Late Prehistoric artifacts
are quite numerous and not nearly buried as deep due to the later time in which they
were deposited.

Therefore, if you want to talk about raising the bar I suggest on focusing on personally
found Paleo-age finds. In comparison, they are much more difficult to find and definitely
raises the bar for an advanced hunter/collector.

I appreciate the reply however I was directing my question to G.R. I understand your statement quite well and with that in mind..walking a completely unstratified field doing no digging as I belive the grim reaper does..that would be nothing more than luck. Wouldn't you agree?

No I would not agree ...you are talking about some of the easiest hunting there is.

Walking a known Late Prehistoric village site in a cultivated field is not my idea of a
challenge although it can be fun as well as rewarding. You mentioned setting the bar
higher and I suggested a higher setting and the reason why it was a higher setting.

By the way, great Paleo collections can be and have been found without digging.

How do you suggest to find paleo aged artifacts? What works for you? I'm new to this and every bit of knowledge is useful. Thanks

If you get a chance, photo the other half!

11KBP, I understand what you are saying, but in my particular area the Late Woodland/Ft Ancient sites abound as do a lot of Archaic sites. But Paleo sites are like finding a needle in a haystack. I know of two spots where Clovis Points and Tools have been found with some regularity over the years, but unfortunately neither are plowed anymore and are only disked so the Paleo pieces just don't come to the surface anymore.

I actually did put a states collection together. It took me two and half years and I acquired something from every state except Hawaii and I am working on that one. I didn't find these though, I traded for or bought all of them, mostly trading.

Here's a link to that collection.
