These are early Spanish beads, approximately 500 years old...they most likely were from the De Soto expedition..found East of Tampa Bay...The amber ones wer not traded, they were sewn on Spanish garments...lower left area French pistol flint and a grooved lead piece...the rest of course are an assortment of artifacts from a historic site in Pinellas co. Florida.

DeSoto artifacts? That's a mighty big claim. What evidence do you have to back it up? My brother owns a cabin in Rabun Co. GA. DeSoto passed near there and I've often wondered where they camped. I figured there would be very little left by now though. They were looking for gold so I doubt they brought any from home. Gary

Wow that's a supreme case of historics, Hal!!!! I've only found a few Spanish trade beads in all my lookins. I'm still holding out for a Nueva Cadiz.

Phillips mound..Florida Anthropoligist Carl Benson, most Spanish beads were made for years but several of these aregood time markers ..Hope you find a Cadiz or two, I think all the beads ended up in the local mounds, Bayview had a ton of em, a couple of gold, trade silver, etc. I missed out on that, didn’t know it was there, imagine that,Lol... I found a couple in N.P.R., the farther away from Tampa the fewer the beads...,Right in my backyard, I was snoozing on that deal, sorry for the repeat, I never got over it .. Have a great year Tom, keep on your toes and bring home the bacon,Lol,

You just keep raising the bar. It’s so fulfilling when everything around us seems to lower our standards

What an excellent frame, so much history right there. Thank you once again for sharing these with everyone.
