I got out for about 4 hours today on the field below, this area is where I?ve found my oldest coins to date in Germany. This is where the musket ball mold came from, right around the middle of the field. Upper left of the field had a farm/hotel on it around 1000 years ago that supposedly lasted until the 1600s, not a trace of it today, not even satellite pictures show a square where a building once stood. Armies camped here on their way to battles throughout history as this town was founded as a cross roads in 1008. Made some very interesting finds today, here?s the better of it all.

Some of the lead finds, a stand for a lead soldier, lead bullet, 3 musket balls and 2 lead seals.

Relics, a thimble, copper ring with reddish glass stone, small pin with a tulip/flower on it and a small scale weight.

A rather large lead house on a stand, it?s 7X4 centimeters.

Obverse of a 1742 silver 1 Kreuzer coin. It?s a little beat up but a thrill to find. Note the name ?Brand? on the right legend, there is a small town close to here named ?Brand?, don?t know if they are related.

Reverse of the 1742, date is at the 11:00 and 01:00 positions.

Obverse of an 1822 ? copper Kreuzer and an 1851 copper 1 Kreuzer, nice condition for coppers off these fields.

Reverse of the 1822 and 1851.

The obverse of what I think may be a 1600ish copper, this side is frustrating to make out any details.

The reverse and what I think I can see, compare the 1851 double headed eagle from the above coin to this coin and you can see close similarities, this eagle looks much earlier. In the middle is an orb or a circle with a cross above it. Within the orb is a ?1Z?. Some letters on what?s left of the legend I can?t make out. The coin may have been a square coin. Hope to get some ID help. I had a great day detecting, hope everyone got out as well! HH, Mike

WTG BM, I love reading your posts, as you have so many options in Germany. So much to find there, and much variety. Keep posting, they're great...

Wow, I love an open field hunt. Unlike most guys here in Ohio, I love to hunt open fields. Now that winter is on it's way, it's back to the library and start hunting for other fields to hunt. I always looking for a new field to hunt, mmmmmmmmmm wonder when I can hop the next plane and head for Germany. Great Finds, keep them coming you lucky Dog!, HH
