Re: Found this in the mail today!

Its the same exact piece its just my camera cell, and how they come out in diff light and angles plus the zoom changes it. Here in my hands its the same exact piece!

You can build an aircraft around a spitfire number plate, does it make it original?

Yes, so would I if someone had my relic restored and it wasn't my choice. But that is not the case here, it's simply a matter of personal preference.

Re: Found this in the mail today!

Real nice work. However its not something I would not consider. He could have made one from nothing and would be just another pin on the fake market. I regret your loss of something so nice of a find like that. Can he put It back the way it was.

true, a no brainer. Leave.

Restoration to me is bending back original material without damaging.

Re: Found this in the mail today!

The debate of whether or not to restore this buckle (or any other artifact for that matter) will never be resolved. However, I think we can all agree that the restoration was done beautifully! That guy has incredible skill!

Aesthetics aside, is the buckle worth more $$ now that it is restored?

Not to me, but I'm not the buyer.

I would have paid more before the change :P

That is probably just as much of a debatable topic.

Re: Found this in the mail today!

Is that a replica of the damaged pin or is it the actual damaged pin with material added?

Re: Found this in the mail today!

I must say this. It does not matter in the least want anyone thinks of this piece. This person dug it and had it restored. So what its in their display not anyone elses. So WHO cares? its his/hers in their display to call it what THEY want. They are simply showing a great restoration here. Not once did they mention selling, so WTF? Restoration/Cleaning is truly an art. For those of us who dont have the know how, I see nothing wrong with seeking help. Your piece looks Truly amazing and will display well and congrats to you on the find!

So you would rather drive an old beat up rust bucket , cause its original, blowing smoke and what not than to drive a "restored classic car"?
