Found this in Southeast Kansas. No idea what it is.

Most likely a natural stone. If had been used, rim would be worn down, for one thing.

Google omarolluck you will see lots of stones like this.

Hmmm.....saw some pics but nothing quite like it. Was hoping it was something a little more exciting!
 

Might be the hand socket for a bow drill. Making fire and drilling holes.
 

It reminds me of a sledge hammer missing the handle. I doubt its NA but could be old but just 100s of yrs old. Not sure if its big enough though.
 

It's fairly smooth, about 1 1/2 inches deep. I'll get some closer pics tomorrow.

I can't see anywhere that shows use wear or polish. The hole looks straight sided, it should be well tapered. The bottom of the hole should be highly polished for sure, being it's that deep, it isn't. The rim should show polish from use as well.

Here is a "fire starter" that I found years ago, and a Paint pot. Both show well what use wear should look like.
