Hey all, need the help of the amazing and talented folks here for an ID problem. Was going through a roll of cents last night when I ran across this. The diameter is virtually identical to a cent, though the thickness is only 0.038", and it appears to be made of brass(?). Is non-magnetic, brass colored, but heavier, I think, than aluminum; 1.9 grams. With the angel, I would guess it's probably either from a child's jewelry or from some religious-type item. ...Maybe some sort of Guardian Angel pendant maybe? No sign of adhesive or chain eyelet.

May be weird, but the wife has already claimed it. ...But then, we're weird, also!! :laughing7:

Seen similar on here before, something like 'Angel in my pocket'??

I wonder if they make it through acceptance by a coinstar machine. ???

I doubt it. This last batch was hand-rolled in the fold-over wrappers. Some were marked and had been gone through and all of the coppers were gone, but this was not one of the searched rolls. Apparently they did not look for errors - only coppers.

I got $100, and half were marked. :BangHead:

WOW Deft!! Thanks for finding this! :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy: I've done several web searches with the info from the eBay ad, but still cannot find another out there online. Nothing. Nada. Zip!! Tried doing an image search for "My Pocket Angel", as well as other variations, but still nothing. Is almost like the one on eBay and ours are the only two of their kind on planet Earth. ...Or at least online, on the planet Earth!

I just sent off an email to the Franciscan Mission for additional info. Will pass on what I find out - if anything..

Just got a reply back from the Franciscan Friars. This was my email to them (in green text). Their reply is after that, in blue text:

Hello. I recently found a coin(?) in a roll of pennies. A friend was able to find the same coin still attached to its original paper, and it has Franciscan Mission Associates at the bottom. The location of the coin(?) with paper is here: Unused My Pocket Angel Guardian Angel Religious Token Coin Guide Keep Safe | eBay

Upon learning more about the coin(?), I did multiple web searches trying to find out more about its origins. Nothing. Absolutely no other mention of this that I can find online, other than this one item for sale on eBay. So I am writing you this request, to ask if you could help provide some background info in this little coin. My wife has claimed it as her own, as she dearly loves anything having to do with angels. Would be awesome if she could also know what years this leaflet was handed out, under what conditions/occasions, and maybe even the story behind the "My Pocket Angel" coin. Your help in this will be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you,

Over 20 years ago we had the idea of this angel and had it made and manufactured by one of our vendors that we work with and used it in a mailing to our benefactors. As young people growing up we use to say the prayer to our guardian angel for protection during our day. It worked very well for us in the mailings and our benefactors appreciated it and often times asked for additional ones to share with their loved ones. We did use it most recently a few months ago.

We have sent many of our angel cards to many people who write to our servicemen and women overseas.
When we have them available we are happy to share them. We certainly did not put it on Ebay and do not know
who put it there at a cost.

I hope this answers your question. God bless.

Funny how they sell it on eBay as unused. If it was used would there be no angels left?
