What is it made of?

looks like coral, but not from a lake. Could be a cave formation, but who would throw it in a lake? But anyway, welcome to TreasureNet.

Possibly an ironstone concretion. In the Southwest, I guess they have a local name of Moqui Marbles. Not always found in clusters, but individually.

1st - I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard snarfone! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country). You might also consider adding your state (or country) to your displayed profile (SETTINGS -> EDIT PROFILE) so if you ask a question, etc. - people may have more success helping you (if necessary)...

2nd - I moved from Today's Finds! over to Forum: What Is It? for more exposure.

I'm sorry, I thought I had got all that picked up. That old dog of mine just does not know how to behave in public areas.:laughing7:

It could be Taconite which are iron oar balls. It made shipping easier and could be poured like marbles.
