Found this at a friends house...is it gold bearing?

Scratch it with something metal. If it flakes or crumbles it is not gold. Gold will deform.
 

Pyrite so technically it could be aurifourous.
 

I would recommend crushing it with a pestel and mortar, screen it down to at least 20 mesh or so, and then putting it in nitric acid. After that if there was any gold it would be pretty apparent. Looks like pyrite, but there could be gold in with it.
 

just do the test goldenmojo said, or you could do an acid test but I am leaning towards pyrite if so just keep it as a pretty rock...
 

Take it to your local prospector store..they can probably tell you..
