Found these coils at Union Pass,Ariz./What are they for ?

I first also thought it was a mangled slinky, but the wires look to be round in the pic.

Thanks for the replies,I don;t really know which 1 is correct,so I will accept them all. Terry I enjoy watching your past Viedos,I hope you keep them comeing.
