Had one of my most favourite finds yesterday. Small Medieval keys are nice, but fairly common finds, large Medieval keys though are very rare to find. This one for me ticks all the boxes, it probably dates to around the 13th century. Although the size of the handle loop compared to the length of the key, could possibly make it late Saxon 10th/11th century. Either way though a great find. The key fell to the silver sabre plus, and the signal sounded like a dustbin lid, even at around 8 inches deep.
Robert.

Cheers :icon_thumright:, it certainly is well made. Wonder what it was used to lock. ???

Very nice! :) Some in the US wish they could live in New England to find historic artifacts and there are those of us in NE who wish we could find what you find! I love the key and wish I could hold that much history in my hands.
