Found Strange Foreign Coin - SOLVED

Found this (silver coin) in front of the local court house about 4" down. I seems to have Arabic writing on it and it is a little bigger than a quarter.

Where is it from?

What year is it?

Is it silver?

I wonder how it got to a court house in the middle of Florida.

coin is a 50 FILS from IRAQ minted between 1937-38
9.0 g. 50% silver .1447 oz. ASW 26.5mm
struck at Royal and Bombay mint.
in 2006 book value was f-$2.00 vg-$4.00

Wow! Thanks for the information. I really have to wonder how it got where it did. The county where it was found was the least populated in Florida and the only town of any size was the town where I found the coin. The town had just a few thousand people at the time.

I don't know that we had any Iraqi terrorists running around in 1938, especially in a podunk little Florida town.

It looks recently lost. It also may be more nickel than silver. I dont know what .5 silver means. 50%maybe?
