Hello all!

Since it's too cold and snowy to Detect this time of year here in New England, I thought I'd go through my hoard of Wheat Pennies I have this past weekend. I started by going through them looking for the known Double Die varieties.... to which of course, I found none.

Then I decided to go through and pick out the super Extra Fine to Almost Uncicrulated ones to update my coin folder.

I have my little eye loop out checking them to see if they are AU or just XF... when all of a sudden.. I find a filled 5! WOO HOO! I'm pshyched. First error. A few moments later, I find one that shows the word LIBIERTY..... An added piece of cud.... WOW I say to myself... then the very next coin.. same error...

Uh oh... I'm either the luckiest guy on the planet.. OR... I've been Whadoozled!

That is when I start to think that wow... maybe I didn't find a great coin.. but rather, just the realization that there were a LOT of errors on the wheat backs.

What do you guys think? Here are a couple of scans of some or the errors that I found. Anyone know of these varieties... or if they are worth anything more than just the value of an XF Wheat back?

Thanks!

This first one has a filled 5 as well as the extra cud in the Liberty.

This second one has just the 'Libierty' cud filling.

This third one is ANOTHER one with the "Libierty" cud.

Finally.. this last one has a Filled B in Liberty.

******** UPDATE ****************

So, I just went searching on my Local Coin shop's web page looking for errors.. to see if I could find some of mine. Check out what I found on their site!

My exact coin..... and they are asking 7 bucks a pop! I already have three of them.. in MUCH better shape... I'll be dog gonned if I might not have a good couple of coins on my hand!

Check out their picture on the website!

wow.....that is an unbelievably high price to ask for a "BIE" break in my opinion......really pretty common, especially on wheats from 1955-1958.......I would be shocked if that dealer has sold any at that price......especially in that condition.......yours are much nicer and I would expect a fair price per coin to be about $3.

HH all!

I would agree,$7.00 is really high, the 1950's cents were loaded with minor errors. They may be trying to sell for that price, but how many have they sold at $7.00.

Thank you all for your thoughts and input. That website that was posted by VPR inspired me to do a quick couple of searches with Google and on EBay. Didn't realize that the errors I found were so darn common. Oh well.. Even if they are worth say 3 bucks a pop... I got it for a penny. That is what.. like a 300% payback? Not too shabby!

Thank you all again!
