I'm a pastor in a very small town. They're adding on a bedroom to the house, and the plumber was digging a trench today for the sewer line. In the process, he unearthed a bunch of old bottles, what looks like a pulley or wheel of some sort, and this. All I've done is rinsed it off with some water.

Real or toy?

Either real or a toy it's a good treasure as it no doubt has some age to it. Nice find pastor.
I would be locating a detector and going over the grounds, the finds might finance a church project!!

Hi Pastor KDBrich interesting find , weight wise does it feel heavy like a real gun or lite like a toy gun ? From all the rust it could be real , need to run it through electrolysis and see if it cleans up . Show us some pictures of the old bottles would be interested in seing .

I just recently got back into detecting. I bought a Fisher f2 a couple months ago. I plan on doing just that as the weather warms up.

I really doubt you will fund any church projects with the few dimes or wheats you may find but that isnt what the hobby is about good luck though you may find a gold ring might make for a good picnic

Someone suggested electrolysis.....what is that? How do I do it? Anyone know how to go about cleaning this thing up?

The church sits on some old ground. I don't expect to make a lot of money on stuff I find...but hey...I'll see what's there. It's a good time.

Here are some updates on the other stuff I found.

This one is stamped "Tonic Vermifuge" on the front. One side says "Philadelphia" and the other has "Dr. D. Jaynes".

Thanks.....found a cool video on it. Doesn't look that difficult. I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens.
