Pretty nice find. The marks are sure interesting and not ones I recognize from the get-go. It very well could be solid silver. I'm only guessing it's from around the time of the Civil War. Maybe older, maybe not 🤔

Red-Coat might get on it after he's had his dinner.

Red-Coat might get on it after he's had his dinner.

Slow-cooked beef cheeks in a red wine and marrowbone gravy with horseradish, herby dumplings and star-anise glazed carrots if you’re interested. We have such a great variety of ready meals in the UK versus what you can find in America.

Regarding the spoon, it looks to me like early American work in coin silver (nominal .900 fine but unassayed) and, if the ‘79’ is the original date mark, likely to be for 1779 rather than 1879.
I checked all the reference works I have for early American silversmiths and, although a number of them have ‘TW’ initials, I couldn’t find a match to the ‘TW’ unserifed letters with no stops in between. There are however still numerous unattributed marks from small or short-lived makers.
The engravings I think are not particularly relevant to identification, being post-manufacturing personalisations.
