Neat. It's a (natural) ironstone concretion that looks like it has come out of sandstone and broken open. Often these concretions will form around something organic that acts as a nucleus, so they have a fossil origin in a sense, and that looks to be the case here but whatever was at the centre is no longer recognisable. Usually it's a shell or a piece of plant debris. The concretion itself is likely a mixture of hydrated iron oxides, probably including hematite, limonite and goethite.
