Found on the edge of the Union camp that attacked Mobile at the Battle of Mobile Bay

Found a musket ball 3 feet away. The 7 acres is 1/4 of a mile up hill from the river they crossed. The camp was 6 miles long and they stay there a week before moving north for their attack at Spanish Fort, Al. Also found a ton of hand made square nails. Might be a piece of farm equipment. Any ideas? Part of lock plate?

I'd say 20th century broken farm equipment, like a turn handle, now mangled due to the "6" cast into it.
