I think you might be right. I looked up some similar images of old carriage wrenches, and it makes sense given some of the iron horse tack I found nearby. Thanks for the help!

reminds me of a old threading tool, I found a picture of the tool I had in mind. DATED 1915 threading attachment tool $(KGrHqFHJF!FDyOfbuRIBR!qlZdIlQ~~60_57.JPG

I like Nova's find. I was going to say that in the day of horse and buggy, nuts were square, so I don't think that could be a typical wrench.
