Well, it's not an entire gun but it's the cylinder and shell ejector pin assembly from a small caliber handgun/revolver; probably a .22. It's an eight shooter and I have no clue what brand it is. I can't find any markings on it.
I thought it was a toy at first until I looked more closely and saw how it was made.
Based on where I found it, it looks like it was probably disassembled and ditched long ago. Who knows, it may have been used in a crime or even a homicide. It's probably a Saturday night special someone took off the beaten path and tossed in pieces. I'll go back and see if I can locate the rest of it. It got dark and I couldn't hunt any longer.
I'll definitely try and get a picture up tomorrow because my son is working with me and he has a decent phone (which I obviously do not at this time).
I'm actually getting ready to clean this thing as we speak.
The stories that these objects could tell never ceases to amaze me. I could have part of a murder weapon for all I know.
You just never know what you'll dig up next.
So I have to ask. Should I turn it in or is it too late and/or pointless at this point??
It's definitely been in the ground for a long time because it was at least ten inches down.
*****UPDATE*****
This is a smaller caliber than a .22. I got some of the dirt out and I can see the holes better now. I'll figure it out tomorrow.
